123 - Countdown for superpower India?

The latest buzz on Indian political and external affairs is about 123-Hyde US-India Deal. Each political party opens up with different opinion about this agreement to confuse citizens and themselves. PM visualizes a dream India by showing positive segment of this agreement and left criticize him by inquiring nation’s sovereignty. Congress party is passionate to implement this on national interest and BJP took this opportunity to play political game against them.
Right now, I am in no-man’s land on this issue and planned to run a poll to realize potential benefit of this agreement. I have gathered few points on this agreement and like to share it before this poll. I appreciate your views as comments for this blog.
Pro:
The nuclear deal, undoubtedly, is a symbol of India's arrival on the global stage. We will self-sustain in our Power requirements and help us to raise us a super power in Asia. Agriculture and Industrial sector will reach new altitude ever by this deal. We will be getting latest technology, fuel and an enduring state in world market. Future energy requirements will be relinquished by nuclear power sector.
We will be getting advanced civil nuclear technology, reactors and fuel to run our plants. Our atomic scientists are striving for this technology for years after our last nuclear test. This opportunity will certainly raise us a super power in Asia. America looks for a better competitor for China in Asian market and this adds an economic boost for developing country like India. The nuclear deal, undoubtedly, is a symbol of India's arrival on the global stage.
This deal grants to have nuclear weapons and prevents any nuclear test by signing country. The Hyde Act mandates a cessation of nuclear cooperation in case India conducts a test. But this termination will not happen immediately.
India has proved to be a nuclear state globally by conducting 2 tests in last century. India has already docked enough nuclear weapons and no longer requires to prepare/upgrade its weapon. India has also signed a pact for not using atomic weapons against any country before them. Military analyst has predicted that there will not be any nuclear warheads till next century. India should not miss out this opportunity for the sake of country security.
Finally, “India can’t afford to miss this bus” – PM.
Cons:
This deal is a well-defined plot by America to put a slab on India’s growth in Economy and security. Hyde’s law governs this 123 agreement and certainly gets modified on US security policy. We should not let foreign laws to rule our country.
India can manage its energy demand with country’s available resources. Right now, India generates 1 Lakh Megawatt of power everyday. Based on a statistics, 66% of India’s total power requirement has taken by organic fuels. Renewable resources share 31% and remaining 3% has served by 22 nuclear power stations in India.
India should allocate 5000 billion rupees to increase at least 6% of nuclear power sector in next 20 years. A renewable and organic power sector requires much less share to increase its generation. If we allocate more funds for nuclear power sector and reduces budget for military will be serious security threat for India.
Nuclear power stations are dangerous for the environment. There will not be any successful guidelines to install and maintain a power station. A small natural calamity and terrorist attacks will be a disaster. America still suffers to control atomic radiations from one of its powerplant by 1979. France still suffers to dispose its nuclear power wastes and docking its ships and sending it to poor countries shore for disposal.
This agreement looks partial and against India. It clearly defines actions to be taken if India violates this agreement. In that scenario, 123 agreement will be withdrawn, India should return all machineries and plants supplied and suppose to pay huge amount for compensation for shared technology. No action has been defined against US if they violate this agreement. Agreement states sharing of nuclear fuel and technology based on availability of supplying country. It will be a deadlock for India, if US denies sharing its technology and fuel after implementation.
Finally, It is just a business call from US to sell their flaw machineries for higher rates to India like Bofors.
